Hey Steppers!!!!!
I have decided to give you all until Friday, September 28th to turn in your October 2007 Special Stepper's Events. Please note that this does not include WORKSHOPS!!! There are too many. Anyway, Starting in November, if your events are not in by October 22nd by 5pm not only will they be left off the montly calendar, they will be left of the weekly report as well. I receive e-mails all day errday asking to add an event. I have even received e-mails with events that were happening in the same week. You should know at least a month in advance about your event. For first timers I will give you slack but for the regulars, you know better. Sorry but I gotta have some order.
Where did Cynthia go last weekend???
I didn't go out Friday or Saturday nights. Friday I worked late. Yes I have a real job. If you have eva watch Soul Food, you know that it was based out of Chicago and in the opening credits they show a Big Red Building downtown. I work in that building for an insurance company. So yes I really do work. Anyway, Saturday I took my mom and uncle to my cousins wedding in Racine, WI and we came back that night. Was too tired.
Sunday I did go to Club D'Elegance where there was a Unity Party going on. Shine Entertainment helped organized the event. MC's were G. Porgie, Sunshine, Myself and Sam Chatman. DJ Raphael was on the box. It was a light crowd in the beginning. Then more people started coming in. Good food was in the building as well. They let me have the mic. Why!!! Sunshine asked me and G. Porgie to say some things about getting the steppers to come together and support each other. And we did. Then she talked a little about the Jena 6 and how we need to support these young brothas. There was a collection taken and the funds will be sent to them from the Steppers here. That was love. This was actually the last Steppers Brunch/Set at Club D'Elegance for Shine Entertainment. They will still have their Steppers classes there. Now on Sunday's @ the club you will be "Steppin' w/DJ Raphael." He said "back to where it started." The more things change the more they stay the same.

*I spoke to DJ Squeaky regarding the 939 Club. Some of you may know that there was no dancing permitted at the club because they didn't have an entertainment license. He says that has been cleared and there will be Steppin at the club this Thursday. Thursday is going to be busy. Check out the special events below. "Can I Step w/You" Anniversary, New Guys on the Block Appreciation Party and West Suburban Productions first Set and semi finals at Mariella's. Now to top it off with the 939 that closes at 4am. Then the last three sets are on the "WESTSIDE" of town. Wow!!! Now understand that New Guys on the Block is having their Appreciation party now because they really don't know when the Pines will close.
*Is Cisco's Music World in Hazel Crest closed???? Oh my, Cisco contact me and let me know. I don't like to print things until I talk to the horse but my my, I have talked to a couple of people that says it is true.

Cynt's 2 Cents
You know how you go outside of the Steppin' Community to family functions or friends parties and they want to see you Step? Now I don't mind Steppin' but sometimes when I go out of town or to those type of parties, I just want to sit back, chill with a drink and mingle. So at my cousins wedding reception Saturday night that didn't happen. My family was in my face saying "we wanna see you Step." Telling errbody, "Cynthia is the Steppin' Queen." Guess what they played??? And as soon as it came on my family says "Girl there go some Steppin' Music for you." Urrrgh. It was non other than "Step In The Name of Love." So this dude comes to me and says "I heard you were the Steppin' Queen. Wanna dance?" Don't get me wrong, I am happy that R. Kelly created this song because that got Steppin' more exposure around the country and got more people to do this dance we in the CHI love. However, I am past tired of this song. I loathe this song now. You know they have mixed it, re-mixed it, looped it, put different music to the lyrics and not only did you hear it in the club, but it was a radio song and a video song. Urrrrgh. So anyway I tried to smile and dance with this guy that didn't have a clue as to what to do. So I kept doing my 7,8 or 5,6 and did my thang. My one cousin was saying "Go Cynthia, Go Cynthia" and she is an older woman. Oh NOOOO!!! Oh my goodness. I was saying to myself "just dance until the song is over and then you can sit down." (Stop laughing-- LOL) Then my momma was trying to set me up with one of her childhood friend's son. Urrrghhhhh!!! Now he wasn't bad looking, but come on now. My momma trying to hook me up? Oh NOOOOO!!! I was really ready to go then. So you can see why after I dropped my mom and my uncle off at home, I went home that night and crashed. (Stop laughing). That was my weekend ya'll. Although this really happened, I wanted to give you all something to laugh about. If you don't laugh, you will cry.
